Purpose/Objective: Mike Starkey, Emergency Response Director with the Minnesota Department of Agriculture will describe the plans, policies and procedures associated with a foreign animal disease (FAD) response. The webinar is designed to provide general information to individuals unfamiliar with the dynamic nature of a FAD response and the potential catastrophic impact to a local, regional or national economies. The webinar will specifically review the process for identifying a FAD outbreak; the general response authorities, structure and approach of a FAD response; and in particular, it will highlight the response paradigm shift as compared to a typical all-hazards (FEMA-type) response. The intended audience includes representatives from the following entities: any state or federal agency that could be asked to support a FAD response, commodity groups, producers, and allied industries that could be indirectly impacted through the loss of product or economic impact.
